It is amazing how God uses technology to connect with believers. It is scary to hear of one who is responsible for handling God's Word to be recommending anything from the Emerging Church. I am currently doing research and writing my thesis which is on the Emerging Church. I have posted a lot regarding them because of the serious threat they present. Because they are so postmodern, they sound orthodox while at the sametime are clearly heretical.
That is a good description of them. I like what Jesus told the Pharisees: "you'll travel for miles just to make one convert and make him twice the son of hell you are!"
Thank you for all of your encouraging words!
Hey Kyle,
Isn't it amazing how the Body of Christ can connect in cyberspace? Again, your thoughts were so helpful in the struggle we find ourselves in. The pastor we are dealing with is recommending Tickle, McLaren, the Shack, etc. with no disclaimers. He's having "shack-yaks" regularly. The church is unprepared to fight the good fight. Teaching is scarce and many are so lazy in their faith. Believers are just beginning to wake up to the emergents. I commented to one woman that the movement was insidious. She didn't understand the word. When I sent her the definition it was even more ominous, the last part being: awaiting a chance to entrap :the insidious pressures of modern life>bof a disease: developing so gradually as to be well established before becoming apparent.
Quite an accurate depiction of this movement, eh? Thanks again for your diligence
